01 · The context

Learning Goals is a French language school running structured 90-day programmes. They onboard students, assign teachers, monitor fiche (homework) completion, and generate mid-course tests. All of it was manual.

02 · What was breaking

Each new student took weeks to fully onboard. Teachers were missing the 67% and 80% fiche milestones because nobody was watching. Mid-course tests were a one-by-one Google Doc job.

03 · The approach

  1. 01Build a teacher-side dashboard so onboarding is one paste, not three weeks.
  2. 02Wire fiche progress tracking with three Supabase milestones (67%, 80%, 100%) and an email trigger to the teacher at each.
  3. 03Generate mid-course tests with Gemini against an answer key, save the test + key as shared docs, and email the student a personalised link.
  4. 04All wrapped in error handling so a single OpenAI hiccup does not stop the whole onboarding loop.

04 · Shipped

Onboarding loop went from a three-week manual rollout to a one-evening one. 21 teachers and their students onboarded in 6 days. All four Fiche Monitoring bugs from the prior pass fixed.
